WEEK ELEVEN

(November 13-19)

Hey! How was your week? Good? Good. It's getting mad cold these days and I like it. This is the first time in a couple years that I've been in New York for the entire transition from Summer to Fall and I have to admit that I've fallen into HOLI-GAY MODE. Visions of sugar plum fairies and all that shit are definitely dancing. I have a confession: I love Starbucks xxx-mas drinks. Now dont get me wrong, I'm all about the mama and papa coffee situaitons, but there's just something about a little eggnog chai latte action that gets me going. These days I don't don't have time for much pleasure. I just work until my eyes bleed and then crack the whip on Tom. Basically, I've become a sadomaschist. It's fine. It's all for you. BTW, this is what the yoga sticks REALLY looked like (and the stupid bitch who snapped and killed LINDA STEIN):



This week we had scheduling meetings with TED OTTAVIANO and JUNIOR SANCHEZ at their studios in New York City. Next week we are starting on a new song called "Forever Blue" with Junior (after we recover from the tryptophan).

Some of you have been asking when the record will be available and WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG? I have the answer. What a lot of people don't understand is that the recording and releasing of a debut album on a major label usually takes an average of two years to complete. Typically, when a new band's first single isn't released, their entire album has been recorded. But this was not the case for us. In fact, when we released "The Rejection" we hadn't even started to write the full length! No one expected it to be a hit overnight. We just figured it would be nice to have a little something in the marketplace while we worked on the rest of the album. But literally in the first 24 hours it was released, it went to 2 on the iTunes Dance charts and ever since that day in November 2005 we have busted our asses to write the best album possible. Our two years is almost up!

I wanna really open up and tell you more about what's going on underneath the exterior of Dangerous Muse so you have a better understanding of what we are going through. If you know about our set-backs as well as our accomplishments, you'll get a better understanding of what it's like to be making a record in 2007. Now more than ever, to be successful, an artist must be in complete control of their career inside and out. There is so much more to us than music, lyrics, and UGLY FACES :) Everything about our band, our brand, comes directly from us. Nothing has been handed to us. Until this point, we have been solely responsible for instigating and overseeing all of our own marketing and publicity efforts, booking our own private shows, running our online store (designing, printing, shipping and restocking merchandise). I even design and maintain all of our websites (dangerousmuse.com, myspace.com/dangerousmuse, youtube.com/dangerousmuse, and facebook.com/dangerousmuse, www.dangerousmuse.com/porn). Maybe some day that last link will be real. We have a small team of dedicated people who help us, but the brunt of this machine is independently controlled by us -- not by some faceless person in a cubicle somewhere. All of this takes a lot of time!

Additionally, our move from Cordless Recordings to Sire Records wasn't as easy as we thought it would be. It entailed traversing an UNPRECEDENTED ROAD, riddled in red tape. Although Cordless and Sire are technically a part of the same overarching company (Warner Music) we were the first artists ever to be effectively "upstreamed" to a major label in this way, so nobody knew quite how to handle us. All of the master recordings for the music that we released while on Cordless fell into a custody battle and our contract was in need of re-negotiation. We also had a lot of internal Dangerous Muse business matters which needed to be worked out in order to more effectively deal with larger issues at hand. We acquired a manager, lawyer, and accountant. With their help, we established Dangerous Muse as an limited liability coalition (LLC) and renegotiated the terms of our deal.

Anyway, I don't want to go on too much of a DIATRIBE. I just want you to understand where we are coming from so you guys can take the journey with us. It's not an easy road, but we are on it together! Too cheesy? Fuck you. I love you.
